Gary Brooker is the founder, pianist, and the voice of the iconic band Procol Harum. He is the co-composer of the song “A Whiter Shade of Pale,” which swept the world in the late ’60s and propelled Procol Harum to international fame. the band released ten innovative albums in the 1970s, and after a hiatus, has since 1991 been touring worldwide and recording again.
Gary has also been a sought-after rock collaborator, playing in Eric Clapton’s band for three years, touring with Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band, and he was pianist in the band for the legendary tribute to George Harrison, “The Concert for George.” In 2003 Brooker was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, in recognition of his charitable services.
Gary performed in the 2016 Winter Solstice Celebration, and can be heard on the Everybody Under the Sun album, tracks 15 and 27.
